Abstract

To gain an insight into the process of development and ways of achieving sustainable development can only be recognized through those factors that cause inequity. In order to recognize whether regions are developed or not, it is essential to analyze regional inequity patterns, economic and social differences in large and small regions and the degree of superiority of one place to that of other places at national level. This paper is to determine the degree of development in Iran’s townships based on 1385 statistics. The statistical population includes 336 township which are ranked based on 25 primary indices and replacing them with 10 synthetic indices. Considering the components that should be analyzed, the dominant approach of this research is descriptive-quantitative and analytic. To this end, the related indices were decreased by FACTOR ANALYSIS and presented as meaningful groups. Then the percentage of each factor in township’s development was determined and finally township are classified according to synthetic HUMAN DEVELOPMENT INDEX into four groups (Highly-developed, developed ,moderately-developed, under-developed) and position of each city in these four development levels was determined.
