Abstract

This article discusses the role of operational criteria in DETERMINATION OF OBJECTIVES and decisionmaking strategies by chief managers of Universities of Medical Sciences. The process of decisionmaking is the most critical responsibility of POSDCORB (an acronym for planning, organizing, staffing, directing, coordinating, reporting, and budgeting) that is a continuous and challenging process. In this regard, the basis for DECISION-MAKING is information and therefore, overflowed and unanalyzed data can lead to misappropriate DECISION-MAKING. Determination of operational criteria for various professional fields can be much helpful for clarification of objectives and is as an important factor regarding SURVEILLANCE and control that is one of the main duties of chief managers. In this article it has been attempted to analyze and describe the main responsibilities of chief managers and their required skills. In summary, after having a description of DECISION-MAKING process, the role of operational criteria in organizations in relation to functional levels and skills is argued and then some questions are claimed regarding these criteria and fields of activity in medical universities.
