EVALUATION OF FREQUENCY RATE OF ORAL PATHOLOGY LESIONS AND RELATIVE FACTORS IN RENAL TRANSPLANT RECIPIENTS IN LABBAFINEJAD HOSPITAL (2007-08)

  82-90

Abstract

Background and Aim: ORAL LESIONS are common in RENAL TRANSPLANT patients taking immunosuppressive drugs. The presence of ORAL LESIONS in these patients as an infective center can effect on their graft prognosis & face the people with severe problems. The aim of this study was to evaluate the frequency rate of ORAL LESIONS in RENAL TRANSPLANT patients & RELATIVE FACTORs in Labbafinejad hospital (2007_08).Materials and Methods: The present study was descriptive. The cases were RENAL TRANSPLANT recipient patients who were grafted at least one year ago. In Labbafinejad hospital from June 2007 to November 2008. The variables of the research were type of pathologic lesions, location of incidence, the time passed after graft administration, age, gender, smoking, drug dosage, other drug consumption, type of renal graft, systemic disease, situation of hemoglobin and FBS, blood group type. Statistical analysis was performed by spss & c² test. Results: The result showed that out of 250 patients, 159 cases(63.6%) have oral pathologic lesions. Gingival over growth, hairy tongue, gingival recession, gingivitis and halitosis were the most common lesions respectively. Systemic disease, oral hygiene & folic acid consumption have statistical relation with oral pathologic lesions in this group. There were no statistical relation between oral pathologic lesions & other variables. Conclusion: According to the result of this study, regular oral hygiene assessment in RENAL TRANSPLANT recipient patients is recommended.
