Title

The Anti-Colonial Struggles of Latin America: Embodiments of Popular Resistance

Pages

  119-146

Abstract

This article examines the intrinsic connection between the struggles of Latin American peoples and resistance discourse, focusing on the analysis of social and political movements in the region in light of historical inequalities, postcolonial conditions, and social injustices. In this context, case studies such as the resistance against Spanish and Portuguese colonialism, the Cuban Revolution, the Zapatista movement in Mexico, and indigenous struggles against colonial powers are analyzed to elucidate the role of resistance ideologies in shaping political identities and strengthening social solidarity. The central research question explores how resistance -particularly within anti-colonial and anti-neoliberal discourse -has manifested in Latin American struggles. Employing a documentary-analytical methodology, the study draws upon historical sources, academic research, and political analyses to demonstrate that resistance discourse in Latin America serves not only as a tool for countering external and internal domination but also as a theoretical framework for redefining social justice and reconstructing cultural identity. Ultimately, innovation in this field can open new perspectives in historical and political studies by introducing novel interpretations, redefining resistance concepts, and employing adaptive methodologies across different Latin American contexts.
