Abstract

Baresque style was first employed in pearl-making, and it was not until late 19th, when it found its way into art and literature. Motion and dynamism, transgression, renovation and poetic images can be enumerated among its characteristics. This article is an attempt to examine themes of BARESQUE STYLE, followed by an investigation of its examples in ZAHAWI’s poems, the contemporary Iraqi poet. Some of the themes of BARESQUE STYLEs used in ZAHAWI’s poems include transgression, thought of death, and inconsistency of the world, carpe diem, motion and dynamism, to name some.
