Abstract

Background & Objectives: OBESITY is one of the most important problems of public health in the world. Prevalence of OBESITY complications during the pregnancy are increasing in our country. Therefore, evaluation of the OBESITY complications in this era is important. The aim of this study is evaluation of the relationship between OBESITY and PREGNANCY COMPLICATIONS and CHILDBIRTH in health centers.Material and Method: In this study, 180 cases who referred to the health centers of Daregaz city were enrolled. Based on the measured weight and calculated body mass index at the beginning of pregnancy, women were divided obese (BMI greater than 25) and non-obese (BMI less than 25). All of the women were normal and hadn't any disease. Demographic and pregnancy data were assessed and recorded in both groups. Data were analyzed by SPSS software and chi square test. Results: Generally, obese women were older and had more pregnancy in comparison with the non obese women. According to this analysis, there is a valuable correlation between OBESITY and PREGNANCY COMPLICATIONS such as poisoning, diabetes and blood pressure (p˂0.001, p˂0.001, p˂0.002, respectively). Also there is a valuable relationship between OBESITY and underweight of baby and type of CHILDBIRTH (p˂0.05).Conclusion: The results of this study showed that the obese women are at risk of abnormal CHILDBIRTH, underweight baby, and PREGNANCY COMPLICATIONS.
