Abstract

The extant research has been applied with the objective of reviewing the relationship between SOCIAL CAPITAL and SECURITY FEELING among citizens of Tehran. SECURITY FEELING as the dependent variable has been analyzed according to the human security indices in the report of human development 1994. The SOCIAL CAPITAL as the independent variable has been evaluated with 4 elements of the relations network including interactions, confidence, AWARENESS AND CONSIDERATION.The research methodology is applied and correlative survey. Its sampling group is consisted of all citizens over 15 years old living in Tehran. The sampling method is multistage cluster method and the sample volume is comprised of 390 persons. Data collection tool is questionnaire.Findings of this study indicate that the institutional confidence has the most correlation with the SECURITY FEELING and then the extended confidence and basic confidence are placed. Also, the variations of SOCIAL CONFIDENCE and AWARENESS AND CONSIDERATION have positive effect on the citizens' SECURITY FEELING. Whilst the social relations and SOCIAL INTERACTIONS network has no effect on the production of citizens' SECURITY FEELING.The results of this research indicated that a positive and significant relationship exists between the social security and SECURITY FEELING. Among the elements of SOCIAL CAPITAL, the confidence element has the most correlation with the SECURITY FEELING.
