Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between parenting styles, PERFECTIONISM, and SOCIAL ANXIETY in gifted students. So, 135 students from Farzanegan high school in Rasht City were selected randomly and were asked to complete Frost Multidimensional PERFECTIONISM Scale (FMPS), SOCIAL ANXIETY Scale (SPIN), the parents were asked to complete Diana Bamrynd parenting style scale. Results of Pearson correlation and regression analysis showed that, among the three dictatorship parenting styles, there was no significant relationship between robust and easy-igniter wit SOCIAL ANXIETY. Furthermore, among the dimensions of PERFECTIONISM, parental criticism, doubts about actions, no worry about mistakes, parental expectations, could explain SOCIAL ANXIETY, and personal criteria cannot be adequately predicted. Also, the total score of PERFECTIONISM, parental expectations, parental criticism, and personal standards may explain %0.38 of variation of SOCIAL ANXIETY in intelligent students. The results of this study can be helpful for a variety of organizations including educational institutions, universities, medical institutions, clinics.
