Abstract

This study sought to investigate the effectiveness of group counseling through RATIONAL-EMOTIVE approach on reduction of TEST ANXIETY in highschool male students. To do so, the Sarasun TEST ANXIETY Questionnaire was administered on two public high-schools of Abhar city. Students were selected by race moose coincidental sampling from among highschools in the city. 30 subjects having high degrees of anxiety were selected through the clustering method and were randomly assigned into two control and experimental groups. The experimental group subjects participated in group counseling for 7 sessions and received intervention but this was not done for the control group subjects. After these sessions, post-tests were administered for both groups and the data were analyzed using T-test to verify the research hypothesis. The results indicated that there was a significant difference between the two groups and group counseling based on RATIONAL-EMOTIVE approach reduced TEST ANXIETY among students.
