Abstract

Background and Aim: In Postmodern medicine, it is believed that health promotion is well achieved by considering historical, social, cultural and literary background of communities. Persian literature is considered as a rich source for literary points in health promotion especially in MENTAL HEALTH. The MAULANA Jalalluddin Mohammad Balkhi (1207 – 1273 AC) known as one of the bright stars of Persian literature which is abundant literature. Book of the MASNAVI MANAVI is written at the height of sophistication of MAULANA life and contain very useful issusess in the area of mental and spiritual health. The purpose of the present study was to look for the feature of being in search of personality in MENTAL HEALTH, as defined by World Health Organization (WHO), explicitly and implicitly expressed in MASNAVI MANAVI.Material and Method: This is a comparative study with content analysis; poems related to the feature of being in search of personality were selected and analyzed in six books of MASNAVI MANAVI.Results: The results showed that the feature of being in search of personality in the MASNAVI MANAVI is similar with the human development. Mulavi believes that human being can reach to the top level of personality only if he considers certain necessities and prerequisites including Talab (demand), and journey from pure profane life to human life.Conclusion: the study showed that this book is brimful of new and beautiful subjects in the field of mental and spiritual health. Especially in being in search of personality character. These issues are useful for solving mental problems, and prevention and promotion of MENTAL HEALTH in the community.
