Abstract

Salaman and Absal is a famous story in Persian literature and one of the Haft Orang poems from Abdol-Rahman JAMI. Due to its fame, it has been reflected widely in Persian lyric poetry. This story is originally Greek. JAMI, however, with a little difference changed it to poem and allocated this in novation to himself. In this story, JAMI has expressed mystical philosophical puzzles in a mysterious manner and has clearly shown mystical and love of the heroes, real-life phenomena, Sufism codes and humanitarian opinions. In this poem the poet has tried to express the lofty goals of human love, wors h ip and ignorance of the carnal desires. This article attempts to examine the elements of the story in Masnavi SALAMAN AND ABSAL. Elements such as narrative, plot, TONE, CHARACTER, and… are analyzed to make it possible for the readers to come to a new understanding in the area of STORY ELEMENTS.
