INTEGRATIVE TREATMENTS, SEX AND COUPLE THERAPY: STUDY AND COMPARISON OF THE EFFECTIVENESS OF INTEGRATIVE BEHAVIORAL COUPLE THERAPY AND REDECISION THERAPY IN IMPROVEMENT OF MARITAL COMMITMENT OF COMPETING COUPLES

Abstract

INTEGRATIVE BEHAVIORAL COUPLE THERAPY (IBCT) and REDECISION THERAPY are amongst eclectic therapies that considered by therapists. The current research administrated aimed to investigation and comparison of the effectiveness of the INTEGRATIVE BEHAVIORAL COUPLE THERAPY (IBCT) and REDECISION THERAPY in improvement of MARITAL COMMITMENT. This study was a semi experimental with pre-test, post-test, and 2-month follow-up with the control group. Thirty-seven couples (74 persons) selected by convenient sampling among distressed couples who referred to counseling centers in Sanandaj and assigned randomly to three groups. One of the groups received 12 intervention sessions of INTEGRATIVE BEHAVIORAL COUPLE THERAPY (IBCT) and the other group received 10 intervention sessions of REDECISION THERAPY, but the control group received no intervention. The MARITAL COMMITMENT questionnaire was applyig for data collection. The gathered data were analyzed using analysis of mixed variance in SPSS21 software. The outcomes indicated that the gender of couples have had little impact on the effectiveness of interventions of couple therapy. In addition, the statistical analysis outcomes showed that both treatments eclectic behavioral treatment and REDECISION THERAPY contributed to the improvement of MARITAL COMMITMENT (P<0.05). There were 41 percent of the MARITAL COMMITMENT changes explained by therapeutic interventions. INTEGRATIVE BEHAVIORAL COUPLE THERAPY in comparison with REDECISION THERAPY have had more effectiveness in improving MARITAL COMMITMENT and stable treatment achievements (P<0.01). Integrative therapies have being developed, and it is hope that met more acceptances by applying these approaches by the family specialists.
