Abstract

It was expected that North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) would be desolated by the soviet disintegration regarding its cold war roots. But for the sake of the US efforts, not only this did not occur, but also NATO’s sphere of influence was spread over. Regarding its geopolitical and geostrategic importance, the PERSIAN GULF region attracted NATO’s attention and since 2004 NATO’s influence extended to this region with the help and the cooperation of the Arab states in the southern flanks of the PERSIAN GULF. This can bring about different situations for Iran’s sphere of security, among which are the dangers and the threats of NATO’s presence for Iran. While pinpointing to the spread of NATO’s presence into the PERSIAN GULF, its effects for the ISLAMIC REPUBLIC of Iran NATIONAL SECURITY will be analyzed.
