Abstract

social trust is one of the most important components of social capital and the formation foundation of social relations and development of a society and its reduction and increase can signifcantly inﬂ uence the sense of social security. Accordingly, this study investigates the effect of social trust on the sense of security among citizens of Zahedan city. Research population of the study consisted of plaintiffs who referred to the Public Prosecutor's Offce in the second half of 2017in Zahedan, who had experience of working with the Police and attending a Police station, who were estimated to be 1000 individuals in average. According to Morgan’ s table and simple random sampling, 278 individuals were selected as subjects. The content validity of the questionnaires was confrmed by experts’ opinions and the reliability of social trust and citizens’ sense of security questionnaires were calculated to be 0. 91 and 0. 92, respectively. Data analysis showed that the effect of social trust on citizens’ sense of security is 0. 993. That is, for a unit of change in social trust, a change of 0. 993 in the sense of citizens 'security is created, meaning that social trust is an appropriate explanation for citizens' security. According to the results, zahedan Police can provide grounds for citizens’ sense of security by increasing social trust.
