Abstract

 Purpose: MINDFULNESS is defined as the paying attention ability on purpose, in the current and non-judgmentally. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of MINDFULNESS education on the GENERAL HEALTH of girls at the guidance schools of Arak.Method: The research method was quasi-experimental with a pretest-posttest design. The population included all the girls’ at the guidance schools of Arak.30 people were selected through cluster sampling. The students who earned the highest scores on the GENERAL HEALTH Questionnaire (GHQ-28) were selected. They were divided randomly into two experimental and control groups. The experimental group participated in the MINDFULNESS training program (eight sessions), while the control group received no training.Findings: The data were analyzed through covariance method. The results indicated a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores of the experimental group. In other words, MINDFULNESS training affected the GENERAL HEALTH of girls, subscales of anxiety and insomnia along with depression and SOCIAL PERFORMANCE. Participating in the workshop led to the decrease in the mean level of anxiety and psychological distress in the experimental group.
