Abstract

Introduction: In the current situation of employment in the field of Knowledge and Information Science (KIS), it is essential to carry out researches that provide a groundwork for Entrepreneurship and employment. The main goal of this study is to conduct a qualitative content analysis of the new Syllabus of KIS in order to identify Entrepreneurship competencies in the field of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and the degree of compliance of the Syllabus with it. Methodology: The present study is an applied research based on a qualitative content analysis method. The research population included ads for the SEO field and the latest approved Syllabuses of the undergraduate and masterdegrees in the KIS. Findings: The main entrepreneurial competencies of SEO in the form of Content Analysis Structures were developed in five general categories and 39 items. The analysis of the Syllabuses showed that there was 66% of the SEO competencies in the KIS’ s Syllabuses. Conclusion: The results showed that the main drawbacks of the KIS’ s Syllabus in web topics are site optimization for search engines (SEO) as well as Entrepreneurship, and reviewing and updating the Syllabus is essential in this regard.
