INCIDENCE OF EPILEPSIA IN SCHOOL- AGE CHILDERENS AND TEACHERS KNOWLEDGE IN BIRJAND ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS (2010)

Abstract

 Background and Aim: After cerebral apoplexy, EPILEPSY is the second factor for center nerve system and death rate 2 or 3 times more in CHILD who are contracted to EPILEPSY than who are not. No attention to EPILEPSY cause some effects on people s science level and social behavior and economic manufacturing of a country. Researches show that less than 10 percent of sanitation educators in SCHOOLS have enough information about this illness to help patients. To increase the educational opportunities for epileptic CHILDes we should have some plans of training and educational about EPILEPSY for teachers. This research is done to assign EPILEPSY prevalence and teacher s AWARENESS about EPILEPSY.Materials and Methods: In this descriptive analytic research which was done on school students a teachers in primary school in Birjand among primary school in 10 regions of Birjand in racemose way in 20 school. Reference to chosen SCHOOLS and consulting with sanitation educators and take a look at epileptic student s files and they give some letters of introduction to refer to nerve and cranial expert. After their illness confirmation they had an interview with parents and asked some questions to review the effective factors in the illness spreading (sex, family background, …). To inspect teachers AWARENESS, we use a survey consist of 5 questions of demographic information, 5 questions to illness acquaintance and 22 question about AWARENESS. The survey which was prepared by an appellant was confirmed by 10 experts and they verify its resident by re-examination. Then the remittances are gathered and analyzed with the SPSS software.Results: According to founding in this research, EPILEPSY spreading level in school CHILDren is 0.9% and the average point for teacher s AWARENESS is 13.89 out of 22.70.9% of teachers get the average point, 17.7% good point and 11.4% the weak one.Conclusion: This research shows that INCIDENCE of seizure in school-age CHILDes in Birjand (2010) is 0.9% and the most of teachers get the average point. So, according to above results, it's better to have some education periods for teachers, during their serving, to develop their information which helps to forward and support these CHILDren, effectively. Getting suitable information through educations to parents is also effective to prevent the impressions and difficulties of the disease.
