Abstract

In the current discussion on development, labor force and, in particular, the role of women in the growth and development programs are amony the issues that have attracted the attention of the scholars of industrialized countries. It is undeniable that without the participation of women, who make up half of the world population, it would be impossible to achieve real development. Hence, with regard to the importance of women’s role in the ECONOMIC GROWTH and development of our country, the present research uses panel data approach to study the impact of women indicators including EDUCATION INDEX, HEALTH INDEX, FERTILITY INDEX and EMPLOYMENT INDEX on the ECONOMIC GROWTH in the countries of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) from 2000 to 2012. The results indicate that EDUCATION INDEX, HEALTH INDEX and EMPLOYMENT INDEX have a positive impact on the ECONOMIC GROWTH of Middle East and North Africa, and FERTILITY INDEX has a negative impact on the ECONOMIC GROWTH of Middle East and North Africa.
