Abstract

Background & Objectives: Nowadays patient SATISFACTION concept has a significant importance in medical care. Since consideration of patients’ expectation is necessary in improving care quality and midwives are the essential members of health care team and have an important role in antenatal and postnatal, they should be aware of client SATISFACTION rate. The aim of this study was to assess mothers’ SATISFACTION rate and PHYSICAL CARE of maternal CARE GIVERS during hospitalization. Materials & Methods: This is a descriptive comparative study conducted on 270 childbirth mothers that were admitted to Alzahra, Talegani and 29 Bahman hospitals in Tabriz. Mothers who had inclusion criteria were selected by stratified random sampling method. Mothers' SATISFACTION questionnaire from labor and delivery CARE GIVERS was used for collecting data. Data were analyzed by spss (ver.13) software using descriptive statistics and Independent Sample t-test, ANOVA, and Correlation. Results: In educational hospitals mothers' SATISFACTION rate with PHYSICAL CARE in delivery room (89%) and post partum (89.5%) were in high rate. And in labor phase SATISFACTION rate with PHYSICAL CARE was 69%. And in non-educational maternity hospitals, 92.9% of mothers were satisfied with labor CARE GIVERS‚ 95.7% of them with delivery CARE GIVERS‚ and finally 91.4% of them with postpartum CARE GIVERS. The findings of independent sample t-test showed that there is a significant difference in SATISFACTION rate with PHYSICAL CARE in labor phase (p=0.000), with delivery care (p=0.004) between educational and non-educational hospitals‚ but there is not a significant difference in SATISFACTION rate with PHYSICAL CARE in postpartum phase (p=0.526) between educational and non-educational hospitals. Conclusion: Mothers’ SATISFACTION with CARE GIVERS in labor phase was lower than delivery and postpartum. The probable reason for this object is the presence of a large number of CARE GIVERS in labor phase and stress and the presence of pain in this stage and necessity for care, support and more attention in this phase. SATISFACTION in educational hospitals in labor and delivery phase was lower than non educational maternity hospitals. The reason for this difference is the presence of a large number of CARE GIVERS and students that do the care in labor and delivery.
