Abstract

The purpose of the present study was to determine the role of the personality traits and identity styles of Tabriz Islamic Azad university students in the prediction of their life satisfaction. The design of this study was a descriptive and correlational one. The population included all of the students in Tabriz Islamic Azad University in the 94_95years of education. The sample included 379 students who were selected randomly based on Cucaran formula. For data collection the five personality trait questionnaire, life satisfaction questionnaire of S. W. L. S. (painer… ) and the identity style questionnaire of Berzonsky were used. For analysis of the data a one way ANOVA was conducted. The results showed that the life satisfaction rate of the students with extroversion and openness to experience personality traits is significantly higher than the students with neuroticism, agreeableness and conscientiousness. Also the rate of the life satisfaction of the students with informational identity is significantly higher than the students with normative and diffuse/avoidant identity styles. It is also significantly more in the students with normative identity compared to the ones with diffuse/avoidant identity styles.
