Abstract

Research: The structure of this research project, which is accepted as a Master of Science thesis in social and public communications field, belongs to one of the social communication members, i.e. “cinema”. The subject of this research is “analyzing the content of NONverbal communication of Mohammad-Reza Foroutan’s style of acting in the two films Red and Yalda Night” which was conducted relying on content analysis and its application in the mentioned films with the main objective of detecting categories of NONverbal communication (physical gestures and behaviors) of the film’s main character. Besides, this work is done based on the objective of recognizing NONverbal communications and characterization, recognizing NONverbal communications over time, recognizing NONverbal communications and ACTING STYLE of Mohammad-Reza Foroutan in both of the films. Based on the above objectives, some questions are presented in this research, Concepts and key words and the variables within the hypotheses are described separately in terms of theory and practice. In this study, all sequences of the two films, Red and Yalda Night, in which Foroutan played a role, have been analyzed using “Reverse Questionnaire” as the measurement tool. In order to achieve the reliability coefficient, categories, subcategories and classes are operationally defined and “Scott” formula is used to check the validity of the measurement tool. “Frequency Tables” are used for the data analysis. Frequency tables or one dimension tables illustrate one-variable NONverbal gestures. The study and typology of body language in the MOVIE can provide an accurate and clear method in film stylistics and acting, and increase the level of film stylistics knowledge”.
