Abstract

The present research, using scientometric method, studies the growth rate, and identifies and introduces the effective SCIENTIFIC PRODUCTIONs of land IRANian AUTHORS in the field of SOCIAL SCIENCES in the period 1990-2006 as are available in WEB OF SCIENCE database. The total number of scientific works indexed in SOCIAL SCIENCES Citation Index (SSCI) in the period studied, were extracted and analyzed. Also, using the HISTCITE software, attempt WAS made to draw the SOCIAL SCIENCES map and identify the effective papers and AUTHORS in the period under investigation in the same database. Research results indicated that the SCIENTIFIC PRODUCTION of IRANian AUTHORS in the field of SOCIAL SCIENCES in the period 1990- 2006 in SSCI follows an ascending trend, with some fluctuations in the years 2004 to 2006. IRANian AUTHORS' works are mostly journal articles, and then, seminar papers. Also, it WAS clear that IRANian scientists were more active in the field of psychology. Psychologists made three scientific clusters in addition to production of effective works. IRANian scientists were seemingly less active in other fields of SOCIAL SCIENCES. It is worth mentioning that mentioning that' the total number of AUTHORS cited in SOCIAL SCIENCES were very low as compared to that of AUTHORS in Sciences.
