Abstract

Special geographical locations and variations in natural phenomena have caused Iran to be the fifth country enjoying natural variations in the world. Despite enjoying abundant natural attractions, Iran’s ecotourism faces with various problems and obstacles in attracting tourists, particularly in BIRD-WATCHING while in recent years, BIRD-WATCHING has increased and has been a very important source of income. Today, adequate location of natural resources plays an important role in attracting tourists. In the present research, out of 213 ponds and LAGOONs in GUILAN Province, five LAGOONs (Anzali, Amirkalayeh, Boojagh, Estill, and Jokandan) have been chosen as the cases for the study. These LAGOONs, which have been registered in Ramsar international conventions, are managed and supported by the organization of environment preservation in GUILAN. Filed operations, area recognition, and filling out the questionnaire were performed and suitable locations for watching birds were identified. Utilizing GPS the geographical coordinates were registered and were located in map through GIS software. A questionnaire was designed and filed out and the obtained results were analyzed using SPSS. Finally, the present problems were studied and some solutions were suggested for developing TOURISM in the area under study. Finding a way to improve the conditions of TOURISM is very critical in materializing a sustainable TOURISM, and BIRD-WATCHING has been introduced as an appropriate way to help economic growth and preserve natural resources.
