Abstract

Today, tourism industry as a social, economic, and cultural phenomenon has been noticed by many countries which has a continious and permanent growth during the past decades. Modern tourism is related to development which follows various purposes. In this process, tourism has a basic role and this is a path where Iran has suitable advantages. The present study which is descriptive, has been conducted using library practices and practical studies and, in addition to identifying strengths, examines the weaknesses of tourism growth in Tabriz. It also examines the potentials and limitations of tourism growth in Tabriz. Using the SPSS software and the results obtained through this software, it focuses on the challenges of urban tourism development in Tabriz which can play an important role in planning the tourism space in proportion with the social, natural, and cultural conditions of the city and using its potentials. It has been found that tourism is positivel correlated with promoting the life standards and people’ s income level especially in developing countries.
