Abstract

The aim of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of CARIES FREE PRESCHOOL CHILDren from a social viewpoint in Mashhad - IRAN.A group of 745 CHILDren aged 3-6 years were included for examination from kindergartens by a random sampling manner (140 males, 116 females).Fluoride content of drinking water is measured at OAPPM for the city of Mashhad where the study was performed. Inter and intra examiner reliability were assessed (P<0.05). This study was conducted in a deprived and a non deprived area of the city of Mashhad. WHO criteria was used for the examination and diagnosis of dental caries.Results showed only 22% of these PRESCHOOLers with no caries (dmft=O). No significant deference was found on caries experience for male and female cases.Prevalence of CARIES FREE cases in deprived area and non-deprived area were 16% and 26%, respectively. The difference between these groups was found to be significant (P<0.05).It is concluded that the lowest percentage of CF was belong to the CHILDren in deprived area which decreases with age.
