Abstract

Aim: This study was carried out to assess caries Prevalence as well as the most effective factors in a group 0: school children aged 8 years in Tehran during 1999-2000.Materials and Methods: A total number of 1024 children were randomly selected. The level of FLUORIDE drinking water was assessed. In addition to the rate of DENTAL CARIES, frequency of SUGAR CONSUMPTION and FLUORIDE supplements, Parents educational level, and Socio- economic status.Data was analysed using a Hest and a regression analysis.Results: Results indicate the mean FLUORIDE level of drinking water to beat 0.3±0.13 PPM. The mean DMF5 was 1.5±1.5 and dmf score was 6.1±2.7.A decrease was seen in the rate of DENTAL CARIES in children who had a higher level of parents education fathers occupation. Frequency of SUGAR CONSUMPTION had a direct relationship with the rate of DENTAL CARIES.Conclusion: A high prevalence of DENTAL CARIES in this society was found in children mothers had lower Level education. being the most important factor involved.
