Abstract

Background and Aim: TEMPORO MANDIBULAR JOINT is one of the most important joints of the human body. Some factors can affect the T.M.J and cause disfuntion leading to patient's discomfort. This survey was designed to assess the PREVALENCE of SIGNs and symptoms associated with different types of TMJ DISORDERs.Materials and Methods: A group of 100 patients referred to Mashhad Dental School were selected whous are then examined for their TMJ DISORDERs. Most of the patients were women, but no specific effort was made on certain sex selection.Results: Joint clicking was the most common complaint. The PREVALENCE of internal derangements (disc displacement) was higher than masticatory muscle DISORDERs.Conclusion: PREVALENCE of T.M.J DISORDERs were found to be high with disc displacement being at highest.
