Abstract

Aim: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the WIDTH of ATTACHED GINGIVA and the depth of gingivalsulces in permanent maxillary and mandibular teeth.Materials and Methods: this study was conducted on 230 male and female PUPILs, age ranged 12to 14years, in the ceity of Ghaem Shahr. Candidates were selected randomly and they divided into three groups. The WIDTH of ATTACHED GINGIVA was measured and recorded in provided forms. Data were then analyzed statistically.Result: this study showed that the WIDTH of ATTACHED GINGIVA was more in maxillary than mandibular teeth, in all three groups. However the pattern of ATTACHED GINGIVA WIDTH changes was similar in both jaws.There were no differences in the amount of ATTACHED GINGIVAl was greatest in maxillary lateral tooth and was least in lower premolar area.The amount of ATTACHED GINGIVA increased and sulcus depth decreased with age.Conclusion: The WIDTH of ATTACHED GINGIVA is in relationship with age and sex of the students and their parents level of education.
