Abstract

The aim of this research was to evaluate the existing condition of Iran PHYSICAL EDUCATION faculties and scientific centers and to present their strengths and weaknesses in comparison with the STANDARDs of UNIVERSITY LIBRARIES. For this purpose, the conditions of these libraries were investigated using ‘goals and responsibilities, ‘human resource’, ‘organization and management’, ‘collection’, ‘organizing, ‘service’, ‘building and equipment’ and ‘budget’ indexes and then the obtained results were compared with the STANDARDs of Iran UNIVERSITY LIBRARIES. The statistical population consisted of 10 UNIVERSITY LIBRARIES and National Olympic Academy and SSRC libraries. To collect data, a questionnaire consisting of 68 questions in eight subscales was used. Another section of the questionnaire was allocated to personal information of libraries under study. The research used the application and field method. The obtained results were compared with ‘the STANDARDs of Iran UNIVERSITY LIBRARIES’ and Excel and SPSS software was used to analyze the data. The results showed that Iran PHYSICAL EDUCATION UNIVERSITY LIBRARIES and scientific centers had a proper condition regarding goals and responsibilities, organization and management, collection and library service while they did not have a proper condition regarding human resource, organizing library sources, building and equipment and especially budget when compared with the STANDARDs of UNIVERSITY LIBRARIES.
