Abstract

This study was conducted with the aim of investigating the EXPLORATORY FACTOR STRUCTURE of the Persian version of FAMILY of Origin Scale among students of Payam Noor University of Fasa city. Two-hundred and eight students of Payam Noor University of Fasa city were selected using multi-stage random sampling method and they completed FAMILY OF ORIGIN SCALE/fa?page=1&sort=1&ftyp=all&fgrp=all&fyrs=all" target="_blank">THE FAMILY OF ORIGIN SCALE-40. Data were analyzed using the exploratory factor analysis and by SPSS-21 software. The results of exploratory factor analysis revealed 6-factor structure: FAMILY emotional atmosphere, responsibility and tone and mood, respect and openness to FAMILY members, trust to FAMILY, loss and separation, clarity expression and feelings range based on previous research. The Cronbach's α coefficient was.93 for the total scale and ranged0 from.47 to.91 for the 6 factors. The significant correlations between the entire scale score and the 6 factors indicates convergent validity, and low correlation between the 6 subscales indicates divergent validity. Finally, the FOS may be used as a reliable and valid instrument in measuring aspects of FAMILY of origin both in therapeutic and research settings.
