Abstract

This research aims to measure the potentiality and recognizing and introducing tourism problems in CHASHM village and also presenting solutions for sustainable development of RURAL TOURISM. The main emphasis of this article is on sustainability and rural individual participation. So this research considers the potentials, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of tourism in the mentioned village from the host society using sustainable development of RURAL TOURISM and its consequences and also strategic approach which consider the three main dimensions of tourism; economic, socio-cultural and environmental. So the method of research is participatory rural appraisal and a SWOT STRATEGIC MODEL. The results show that the most important strong points are natural appeals and peculiar climate and the weak ones are quite arduous paths in cold seasons, lack of facilities for tourists’ residence, villagers’ migration in cold seasons and lack of governmental investments. Also external opportunities consist of peoples’ interest increase in spending time in country sides, appropriate geographic location and adjacency to Semnan and Mazandaran provinces and external threats include lack of government care in executing plans and applying development credit in tourism sector, failing to obey the principles of ecotourism from tourists and polluting the area and not caring for domestic will in planning.
