Abstract

The purpose of the research was to analyze the effective factors of Iranians’ SOCIAL CAPITAL and to identify GENDER DIFFERENCES. A survey has been carried out and based on the data, collected by the questionnaire, it became apparent that: 1. Capital, drawing from INTERPERSONAL TRUST, seemed to be the lowest. 2. Iranians’ SOCIAL CAPITAL was mainly affected by gender variables, social constructs and cultural norms, which was compatible with Putnam and Norris findings. 3. Women’s INTERPERSONAL TRUST was lower than men, yet the interactional norms and INSTITUTIONAL TRUST were higher. Women tend to spend more time with their families, as men tend to interact more with friends and colleagues.
