Abstract

Introduction: Change in lifestyle, and side effects of drug and disease affect the QUALITY OF LIFE of patients with HYPERTENSION. This study aimed at predicting the QUALITY OF LIFE of patients with HYPERTENSION based on RESILIENCE and SOCIAL SUPPORT.Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 120 hypertensive patients were recruited by the convenience sampling during year 2016. Data were collected by a demographic form, QUALITY OF LIFE (SF-12), Zimet SOCIAL SUPPORT, and RESILIENCE in cardiovascular patients. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, and multivariate stepwise regression using PASW (Predictive Analytics Software). P values of less than 0.05 were considered significant. Results: Overall, 120 patients with HYPERTENSION (47 males and 7 females) with a mean age of 51.6±14.11 years participated in this study. The results of this study showed that there was a significant correlation between QUALITY OF LIFE and rational empowerment (r=0.506), self-management (r= 0.471), and medication adherence (r=0.194). Stepwise regression results showed that pain was able to explain 33.5% of changes in QUALITY OF LIFE.Conclusions: The results showed that rational empowerment, self-management, and medication adherence were predictors of QUALITY OF LIFE in patients with high blood pressure. Overall, based on the findings of this study, education and promotion of resiliency could increase QUALITY OF LIFE.
