THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THINKING STYLES AND COMPETENCY IN MANAGERS: A CASE STUDY IN ACECR MANAGERS

Abstract

 Objectives: This study aimed to identify the relationship between thinking style and COMPETENCY of MANAGERS in RESEARCH BASED ORGANIZATIONS. Method: The sample of the present survey included 228 ACECR MANAGERS from all around of Iran which were selected through stratified sampling. Two kinds of instruments were used in this study: one which constructed by researchers on the basis of cultural elements to identify COMPETENCY and TSI to assess the THINKING STYLES. Results: Confirmatory Factor Analysis showed three factors for COMPETENCY that are profession, personality, and values. The results indicated that COMPETENCY is on the average; especially in profession and the personality COMPETENCY. Also there are positive significant correlations between COMPETENCY and global, hierarchic, anarchic, and external thinking and negative significant correlation between COMPETENCY and internal thinking. Regression analysis showed that COMPETENCY was predicted by hierarchic thinking and inCOMPETENCY was predicted by internal THINKING STYLES in ACECR MANAGERS. Conclusion: The author of the article concluded due to the possibility of manager’s COMPETENCY anticipation by the means of hierarchic THINKING STYLES and internal THINKING STYLES; the researcher is able to make usage of mentioned variables in selecting the MANAGERS.
