Abstract

Introduction: Patients with coronary artery disease hospitalized in CCUs have high levels of Anxiety. Acupressure maybe reduces Anxiety. Therefore, this study aimed to determine Acupressure on Anxiety and hemodynamic indices in female patients admitted to Cardiac Care Units. Methods: This RCT study (with code IRCT201703287529N13) 90 woman hospitalized to CCUs of Shahid Rajaee Hospital Alborz University of Medical Sciences in 2017. There are divided into two Acupressure and control groups. While the intervention group received Acupressure for 20 minutes and placebo group received pressure only on the thumb. To complete Spielberger’ s questionnaire and hemodynamic parameters checklist before, immediately after the intervention and 30 minutes after the intervention. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics and analyzed using SPSS-v 24. Results: Before intervention, Anxiety was not significantly different between the groups before the intervention (P > 0. 05). ANOVA test showed that the Anxiety statistically significant different between the two groups (P < 0. 05) but there were no statistically significant differences between the two groups in the hemodynamic parameters. Conclusions: At the end of the study, it was concluded that Acupressure decreases hospital Anxiety indices in women with Acute Coronary Syndrome.
