Abstract

Introduction: The shortage of ORGAN DONATION is the main goal of nursing education. Therefore, the purpose of this research was to determine the relationship of CULTURAL COMPETENCE, health and social support with the attitude towards ORGAN DONATION mediated by SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY.Methods: In this descriptive research, the statistical sample included 369 individuals residing in northwest provinces (Zanjan, Ardebil, West Azerbaijan and East) with ORGAN DONATION cards during year 2016, who were selected by simple random sampling method. For gathering the data, ORGAN DONATION Attitude Questionnaire of Tihana et al., CULTURAL COMPETENCE Questionnaire of Perng and Watson, Keyz’s SOCIAL HEALTH Questionnaire, Gasemipor and Ganje SOCIAL PROTECTION Questionnaire and SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY Scale of Mergler and Shield were used. The data were analyzed using Pearson correlational coefficient and bootstrap using the SPSS and amos-22 software (P<0.05).Results: The results indicated the model was fitted and the direct relationship between CULTURAL COMPETENCE (P=0.002 and b =0.27), SOCIAL HEALTH (P=0.000 and b =0.70), SOCIAL PROTECTION (P= 0.000 and b =0.57), and SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY (P=0.001 and b =0.60) and attitude with ORGAN DONATION was significant. The indirect relationship of CULTURAL COMPETENCE (P=0.05 and b =0.35), SOCIAL HEALTH (P=0.000 and b =0.35), SOCIAL PROTECTION (P=0.001 and b =0.36), with mediation of SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY was significant (P<0.05). In conclusion, 72% of the variance in attitudes to ORGAN DONATION was determined by variables of this research model.Conclusions: According to the findings of this study, it seems that with the reinforcement of CULTURAL COMPETENCE, SOCIAL HEALTH, SOCIAL PROTECTION and SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY of individuals and particularly, patients and entourage, individual group training by nurses, can increase positive attitudes toward ORGAN DONATION.
