Abstract

Sedentary lifestyle is associated with less efficient pulmonary function, and so ability of respiratory system and pulmonary function has a direct relationship with general health. There is need to WARM UP with proper intensity before any exercise. Warm-up exercise have two main functions (i) to prevent injury and (ii) to enhance performance. The purpose of this study was to comparison of two types of severe and moderate WARM UP effects on the trend of PULMONARY VENTILATION (VE) and ventilatory equivalent of oxygen (VE/VO2) changes during different times in female basketball player. In this study seven elite female basketball players with an average age of 21 ± 25.1 years, height of 166.8 ± 3.27 centimeters and weight of 60.85 ± 5.76 kg selected purposefully among basketball teams of Tehran province. In two separate sessions, subjects performed two moderate (with 65% of maximum heart rate) and severe (with 85% of maximum heart rate) WARM UP protocols for six minutes before exercise, After WARM UP. MAXIMAL EXERCISE based on the balk and Weber protocols performed until exhaustion. Respiratory indices measured by 600ZAN model gas analysis system. The results showed that the amount of Ventilatory equivalent of oxygen (VE/VO²) during MAXIMAL EXERCISE after sever WARM UP wa significantly higher than average after mode WARM UP at the times of zero, 3, 6 and 9.
