The aim of the present study was the review of a hydrotherapy program’s effect on physical fitness and balance of mentally disabled boys. The subjects of this study were 30 students with mental disabilities and were selected according to the research inclusion criteria and with full knowledge of their parents of the executive phases of the work and were randomly assigned to two experimental and control groups. Before starting the exercise protocol, physical fitness variables (including cardiovascular endurance, shoulder girdle muscular endurance, flexibility, speed, agility, static and dynamic balance) evaluated. The experimental group did their exercises in water for six weeks (three sessions per week) whereas control group had not any athletic activity during the study. Finally, in the end of exercise protocol, tests for evaluation of considered variables repeated. Statistical Tdependent test used to determine the difference between pretest and posttest in each of the experimental and control groups with SPSS program. After analyzing of measured factors, the results showed that doing selected exercises in the water caused significant improvements in the shoulder girdle muscular endurance, flexibility, agility, static and dynamic balance of the experimental group. So it can be stated that this type of exercise can be a effective way for improvement of these people’s physical fitness.
