Abstract

Satureja mutica L. is an annual aromatic plant, belongs to Lamiaceae family which have been used in industries like culinary, pharmaceutical, dietary, food and drinking and many others. In this research, moreover the best time to harvest in order to achieve the highest ESSENTIAL OIL from SATUREJA MUTICA, the effect of harvesting time on chemical compositions were investigated. The ESSENTIAL OILs of samples in different seasons were obtained by water distillation and analyzed by GC & GC/MS. The oil yields were highest in summer (3.78%) and spring (3.26%), respectively. 29 compounds were identified from the ESSENTIAL OILs and 19 compounds were common at the three Seasons. CARVACROL, THYMOL, d-terpinene, p-cymene and THYMOL were the maximum components in spring oil, also CARVACROL and para-cymene were maximum compounds in autumun oil. This findings were suggested that the summer oil was the best time harvesting of SATUREJA MUTICA.
