Abstract

SOCIAL CAPITAL as an essential tool has a high functionality and applicability in explaining the issues such as social harm and CRIME. Due to the importance of SOCIAL CAPITAL in reducing the CRIME rate, the study was conducted to elaborate on the sociological impacts of SOCIAL CAPITAL within the group and outside the group (intentional ASSAULT). Questionnaire was used to collect the required data. The statistical sample has been all the men convicted of intentional ASSAULT in 2013 PRISONed in SARI, BABOL, and GHAEM-SHAHR cities. Descriptive and inferential statistical methods were used to analyze the collected data. The findings suggest that the relationship between SOCIAL CAPITAL and CRIME trends is a complex one; in a sense that increase in in-group negative SOCIAL CAPITAL leads to increase in CRIME rate but increase in in-group negative SOCIAL CAPITAL leads to decrease in CRIME rate.
