Abstract

The purpose of this research is to investigate the relationship between the PERCEIVED SOCIAL SUPPORTs and family violence of parents with children in Ahwaz. This is a survey study and the statistical population includes all the male and female students in high school and their parents in Ahvaz city in 2013-2014.Inincludes 384studentschosen by Cochran formula. In this research, the multi-stage cluster sampling method was used. The measurement tools were child abuse and trauma questionnaire (Bernstein, 1995)and multidimensional scale of PERCEIVED SOCIAL SUPPORT(Zimet et al, 1998). To analyze the data, statistical index such as percentage, mean, standard deviation, correlation, regression analysis and t-test were used. Results show that there is significant and negative correlation between the social support and the DOMESTIC VIOLENCE of parents with children. There is also a significant negative correlation between the social support of the relatives and DOMESTIC VIOLENCE of parents. Between social support of relatives and the DOMESTIC VIOLENCE of parents against children is a significant negative correlation. However, there was not a significant negative relationship between friends’ social support and the DOMESTIC VIOLENCE of parents against children.
