Abstract

Nowadays, FEAR OF CRIME has become a significant social fact. It seems to be of more importance than the crime itself. The authors of this article have attempted to shed light on FEAR OF CRIME, some major factors affecting it and its consequences. A survey was conducted on a random sample consisting of 384 AHVAZ residents over 18 years old. For gathering the data, self report questionnaire technique was applied. Results showed that AGE, EDUCATION, SOCIAL CAPITAL, and RELATIVE DEPRIVATION were significantly related to FEAR OF CRIME.
