Abstract

Cargo transportation plays an important role in development of foreign trade. Nowadays, with growth of social welfare and economic development, MARITIME TRANSPORTATION demand has been increased and many countries are seeking to have access to cheap transportation services. The purpose of the present research is to estimates the DEMAND FUNCTION for MARITIME TRANSPORTATION in the KHORRAMSHAHR PORT. This research is done applying statistical and ECONOMETRICS methods relying on regression analysis time- series, Eviwes software, log- linear models, and the data related to the time interval of 1992 to 2012. The results reveal that DEMAND FUNCTION traction is positive for factors such as marine CARGO capacity, average of transported CARGO, and the general product price index; and it is negative for factors such as average freight, average fuel consumption. Marine CARGO Capacity scaling variables (53%), average consumption fuel (45%), and average transported CARGO (39%) have the highest effects on DEMAND FUNCTION for marine CARGO transportation in KHORRAMSHAHR PORT.
