Abstract

Regarding the importance of poverty issue, in this research, calculating and comparing the POVERTY LINEs we studied the problem of poverty in 8 PROVINCEs of IRAN: Razavi Khorasan, North Khorasan, South Khorasan, Golestan, Semanan, Yazad, Kerman, Sistan and Baluchestan.The POVERTY LINEs were calculated based on the inverse of the ENGEL COEFFICIENT (the first method).The results show that South Khorasan PROVINCE had the largest increase in poverty level in the period under study, the PROVINCEs of Razavi Khorasan and Yazd are next in rank (based on both first and second methods).In addition, there was not any significant relationship between POPULATION and AREA of the PROVINCEs and their POVERTY LINE levels.
