Abstract

Islamic Awakening and the change of the political system and crises in some countries was the source of enormous impact on the political and security cooperation in the Persian Gulf sub-region. On the one hand, Iran seeks to enhance relations with new governments to strengthen regional cooperation to resolve regional issues including the Syrian crisis. On the other hand, emerging a new rivalry between Iran and other regional actors such as SAUDI ARABIA for geopolitical and ideological interests of the actors in the region. This study will to analysis of foreign policy behavior of Iran and SAUDI ARABIA toward the ISLAMIC AWAKENING. The main question is what effect the ISLAMIC AWAKENING on political - security interactions regional particularly on relations between the two great nations of regional means Iran and SAUDI ARABIA, and what have been source of the opportunities and threats? We have attempted to test the hypothesis that it is due to geopolitics, geo-economics and geocolture features of Persian Gulf region and its direct connection with the interests of the major powers, ISLAMIC AWAKENING led to conflict and strained in relations between the two countries.
