Abstract

The government of Iraq broke the borderline. treaty of 1975 between Iran and Iraq unilaterally on 17 th September 1980 (31 st Shahrivar 1359). So the Iraqi troops invaded Irans territory. However, separating khuzistan province and joining it to Iraq never came true as one of the many dreams of Iraqi leaders. The aim of this article is the investigation of the role of oil with regard to its increasing value in this invasion. Therefore, it is the khuzistan province"s rich oil resources that has attracted the attention of governments of Iraq and their imperialistic supporters.
