Abstract

Purpose: The aim of this research is to investigate the relationship between the state of university-industry Co-publication and the state of commercialization of knowledge in the form of Spin-off in the Iranian universities. Methodology: Using Scientometrics meth-od, the university-industry Co-publications in Iran was calculated during 2010-2014, as well as its relation with Spin-off formation in the Iranian universities during the mentioned period by calculating the Spearman Corre-lation Coefficient. Findings: The results of the study indicated that there was a sig-nificant relationship between the universi-ty-industry Co-publications and Spin-off formation in the target universities during the studied years. In other words, more collaboration between universities and industries means more Spin-off formation in uni-versities. Conclusion: Based on the results of this research, relevant authorities can develop research policies so that the University-industry collaboration in the form of Co-publication are encouraged so as to increase and help commercialization of knowledge. Joint research with commercial interest can make the linkage between university and industry stronger, and at the same time, meets the job requirements of both groups. Considering this, focusing on joint publication is expected to create Knowledge commercialization.
