Abstract

Purpose: The goal of this study is to evaluate Iranian state university websites using WAI.Methodology: This study is a descriptive and Delphi survey. The research sample consists of 100 Iranian state university websites. Data collection was done by checklists prepared in the WAI.Findings: Assessment of the websites with five main criteria in WAI (accessibility, speed, navigation, reliability, content) showed that navigation was in “Good” condition with top of score of 72 out of 100. Content was in “Good” condition with score of 71 out of 100. Speed was in “Good” condition with score of 70 out of 100. Reliability was in “Middle” condition with score of 59 out of 100, usability was in “Inappropriate” condition with score of 39 out of 100.Findings showed that 64 percent of websites were in “Good” condition, and 30 percent were in “Middle” condition.Conclusion: the evaluation reults showed that the Web sites of Iranian public universities have a acceptable situation.
