Abstract

Couples’ compatibility within families has the utmost importance. Many studies have shown that reducing adaptation threat the survival in families. The purpose of this study was to assess the effectiveness of each components of the compatibility, include unanimity, solidarity, emotional expression and satisfaction of married life, on family strengthening. The method of the study was survey with sociological approach. For this purpose, 148 married employees (64 academic and 84 administrative staff) were selected through multiple-stage random sampling and were studied with the help of modified Vick and Benazon and et al and Filisinger and Spanier questionnaire. Results showed the components of compatibility had not the same effect on family strengthening. The results of multiple regression analysis showed the " solidarity (b=0.515) " had the most important effect on family strengthen and emotional expression (b=0.330) placed in the second degree of importance. These results differ from the results of Filisinger & Spanier research that, consensus and expressed interest in sexual relations were the most important component of family strengthening and this result was influenced by the culture of the society.
