Abstract

 Airborne pollutants accumulations in inner space of most INDUSTRIAL BUILDINGS and the lack of an effective evacuation are essential problems for the health of employees in the workplaces. There are several standards that emphasis on the need of effective ventilation. Nonetheless the inefficiency of general exhaust ventilation systems is clear, while the exact calculations are performed to predict effective ventilation by mechanical engineers in industrial areas. This study will examine the indoor airflow conditions in INDUSTRIAL BUILDINGS. It tries to discover the main cause of inefficiency of air suction systems (mostly overhead) through numerical simulations using computational fluid dynamics method (CFD). This simulations are performed in a real case by using Gambit and Fluent: firstly the validity of the program was proved with similar projects, as well as the adaptations with the experimental results. Then, the data were analyzed with an analytical method using Fluent software. Finally, the results were presented generalized to the population. The results showed that the air flow condition is under the influence of independent architectural variables associated with the openings locations, suckers and blowers, and the changes in these variables can improve the indoor airflow quality.
